Expected SHA-256: published with the release
What this does and does not prove. The checksum is published with the release, so it catches a truncated, corrupted or tampered-with download — not a compromised release, since both would come from the same place. Only code signing fixes that. It is still worth thirty seconds before running an installer.
Nothing leaves your computer
No account, no upload, no telemetry. The window is refused the network outright — its typefaces are read from disk rather than fetched from Google. The only request the app can make is the update check under Updates, and both switches there are off until you turn them on.
